Liberonym

Legal & Professional Disclaimer

This disclaimer forms part of the Terms of Use. Please read it before acting on any Liberonym report.

1. Preliminary screening only

Liberonym provides preliminary screening and decision-support. It searches the sources it is able to search, shows what it found with the underlying evidence, and explains why something may matter. It presents observations. It does not make decisions.

2. Not legal advice

Liberonym is not a law firm and is not a trademark attorney. Nothing in the Service, in a report, or in any communication constitutes legal advice, a legal opinion, trademark clearance, a freedom-to-operate opinion or a registrability assessment. No lawyer–client relationship is created.

3. What a result does and does not mean

A status of “No observations identified” means only that no relevant observations were identified through the applicable check. It is a preliminary screening result and does not constitute legal clearance.

“Unable to verify”, “Couldn't check” and “Not currently covered” are not clean results and must not be interpreted as confirmation that no relevant issue exists.

“In progress” indicates that processing is continuing and is not a final outcome.

Where “Observations identified” is shown, the existence of an observation does not by itself establish a legal conflict. Its significance depends on the relevant facts and circumstances and may require professional review.

  • Potentially relevant trademark findings require professional legal review.
  • A preliminary result remains preliminary. Professional clearance is recommended before filing or before a material commercial commitment.

4. Different checks answer different questions

  • A company or business-name check tells you about entity registers. It is not trademark clearance.
  • A domain or social handle check tells you what appears technically available. Availability is not permission, and registering a domain grants no trademark rights.
  • Unregistered and common-law rights, and reputation-based rights, are not comprehensively discoverable from published registers.

5. Point in time

A report reflects the state of the sources at the time they were searched. Registers change daily, applications are filed and published with delay, and a report can become outdated. Re-check before you commit.

6. AI-assisted content

Parts of a report are produced with AI assistance and may contain errors. See the AI & Data Transparency Notice.

7. Your decision

You always make the final decision about which name to use. Liberonym gives you the evidence and the reasoning; responsibility for the decision, and for obtaining professional advice where it is appropriate, remains with you. See the Limitation of Liability.
